CAPESAYSYES-TTFAnother Transportation Trust Fund (TTF) project promised and delivered, West End Boulevard improvements south of Highway 74 in Cape Girardeau reopened with a ribbon cutting event on Dec. 17.

This project included West End Boulevard from Jefferson to Linden streets and Walnut Street from Sprigg Street to West End. The surface of West End Boulevard was removed and re-graded to flatten the road and fix the lumps that had developed over time. The project also included construction of storm sewers, two box culverts, retaining walls along Walnut and West End Boulevard, stairwells at homes along West End Boulevard, sidewalk construction along both Walnut Street (from Sprigg to West End) and West End Boulevard (from Jefferson to Linden Street), street lighting along the new section of Walnut Street and any other related construction items. Fronabarger Concreters was the general contractor.

West End Blvd. Project Details:

  • Project Cost per Bid Tab – $1,963,393.00
  • Project Duration – 10 Months
  • Transportation Trust Fund 4 project; TTF approved by voters in 2010
  • The project consists of the removal of the existing West End Boulevard, re-grading the street profile (to remove the lumps, bumps, and dips, i.e. less roller coaster-like), construction of street improvements for 36’ wide sections of concrete pavement, construction of storm sewers, 2 box culverts, retaining walls along Walnut and West End Boulevard, stairwells at homes along West End Boulevard, sidewalk construction along both Walnut Street (from Sprigg to West End) and West End Boulevard (from Jefferson to Linden Street), street lighting along the new section of Walnut Street and any other related construction items as stated in the Specifications or shown on the Project Plans prepared by Bowen Engineering & Surveying, Inc.
  • Fronabarger Concreters were general contractor
  • Project Limits: West End from Jefferson to Linden and Walnut from Sprigg to West End.
