Construction of new sidewalks on the east side of Kingsway Drive begins this week. The work will start at Janet Drive and proceed north to Kurre Lane. Kingsway will remain open to traffic. However drivers will experience delays through the work area. Drivers are urged to avoid using this area of Kingsway if possible.

The project, which is within the Alma Schrader Elementary School boundaries, is federally funded through the Safe Routes to School program. The project is expected to take approximately four months for Nip Kelley Equipment Company to complete, subject to weather delays.

Construction is also expected to start in the coming weeks for sidewalks on the west side of Kingsway south from Janet Drive to the Food Giant driveway. This section will be funded by Transportation Trust Fund 4, the sales tax approved by voters in 2010. The two sections of sidewalks will connect with a new crosswalk at Janet Drive.
