Pedestrian gates in the flood wall along the Mississippi River in Cape Girardeau will be getting a small facelift, as a fresh coat of paint is applied by a contractor.

Painting begins on Monday, Oct. 5, starting with the Broadway gate. Work is expected to be complete in two to three weeks, weather permitting.

During painting, only one gate will be closed to public access at a time. The riverfront will still be accessible through other gate. Both gates will reopen during evening and weekend hours.
