The Cape Girardeau Fire Department on Jan. 3 at 5:56 a.m. responded to a report of a fire at Quick N Save, 2861 Themis. E-2 upon arrival advised they had no fire or smoke showing and went into investigation mode. E-2 made entry and a moderate amount of black smoke came out of the building. Command advised we had a fire and that we would be in offensive mode. E-2 and R-4 made their way back to where the fire was and advised they were putting it out with a pressurized water can. L-1 opened the back doors to remove the smoke and shut the power down to the building. E-2 then advised the fire was out and they had it contained to a cooler. The fire did cause quite a bit of smoke damage to the building. Cape Girardeau County Public Health were notified about the fire and were dispatched to the scene. Command was then terminated and building turned over to the owners.
