Wes Blair, Chief of the Cape Girardeau Police Department, recently completed the prestigious Missing Children Seminar for Chief Executives hosted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).

“To be invited to attend this training was an honor,” said Blair. “To now be able to bring this knowledge home and put it into practice is a plus for the citizens of Cape Girardeau.”

The Missing Children Seminar for Chief Executives was designed to provide attendees like Chief Blair a better understanding of the issue of missing and sexually exploited children, how to work with the situation of a child who’s been reported missing when time is critical, and how to access a multitude of resources to assist in such cases.

Chief Blair joined 29 other law enforcement executives who attended the 145th session of the CEO course. This seminar, typically held at NCMEC headquarters just outside Washington, D.C., was held as a pre-conference course in conjunction with the 25th annual Dallas Crimes Against Children Conference. Police chiefs, sheriffs and 911 emergency managers were invited to attend the seminar held Aug. 11, 2013 in Dallas, Texas.
