Lane closures along Bloomfield between CR206 and White Oaks will begin Oct. 31 as work continues to widen and improve the street and extend an area trail. Two short-term full closures will occur when bridges are installed.

Letter Sent to Area Homeowners

The City of Cape Girardeau is planning improvements to Bloomfield Road between Benton Hill Road (CR206) and White Oaks Lane. The improvements to this section of Bloomfield Road include widening the street to 28 feet and adding curbs and gutters. An eight foot wide trail is also included.

The project is funded via the Transportation Trust Fund 4, the one-half cent transportation sales tax approved by voters on August 3, 2010.

The contract for the Bloomfield Road Phase V project was awarded by Council on August 15, 2016 to Lappe Cement Finishing, Inc.  The contractor is required to keep one all-weather surface lane of traffic open, except for two short-term closures to install two prefabricated bridges.  The public will be notified of the two short-term closures once those are scheduled.

Construction for this project is expected to begin on Monday, October 31, 2016.  Lappe Cement Finishing, Inc. has 330 days to complete the project, weather permitting.  Please be patient and expect traffic delays during the construction time frame.

If you have any questions regarding the project, please contact the project manager, David Whitaker, at 573-339-6327.

Thank you for working with the City of Cape Girardeau during the Bloomfield Road Phase V Project!  We are excited to complete this project for a safer roadway for vehicles and pedestrians.
