Independence Closed at Silver Springs as of Oct. 17

Independence Street will close at the Silver Springs Road intersection starting the morning of Monday, Oct. 17, for completion of a cross-road drainage structure as part of the Whitener Detention Basin project. Work is expected to last three to four weeks, weather permitting.
Businesses and residences near the closure area will still be able to access their facilities via Pindwood Lane to Independence.
The road closure for this project is being done simultaneously to the Independence roundabout project to take advantage of lessened traffic flow along Independence.
As always, drivers are asked to use caution in all road work zones and consider using an alternate route. Detour signs will be placed around the construction for guidance.
A traffic plan for the project is available here: Independencee-St-Detour
For more information on the project, please contact City of Cape Girardeau Development Services at 573-339-6327.
