Asphalt Work on a Portion of Mt. Auburn Starts Next Week

Asphalt road work starting early next week results in lane closures along the 700-block of North Mt. Auburn Road in Cape Girardeau.
Northbound lanes will receive asphalt work during the project, which is expected to take about one week to complete, weather permitting. Work is slated to begin on Oct. 31 or Nov. 1.
During the project northbound travel will be shifted into the southbound lanes, making Mount Auburn into a two-lane road near the work zone. Drivers are asked to use caution near the road work.

  1. WHY CANT WE FINNISH ONE PROJECT BEFORE WE START ANOTHER. NOW I WILL HAVE 3 SECTIONS OF ROAD CONSTRUCTION TO GO THROUGH EVERY DAY JUST TO GET TO AND FROM MY HOUSE.

    • Hi, Mindy! The Independence/Silver Springs intersection started to open earlier this week, and should be completely open no later than this afternoon (10/28). The asphalt on Mt. Auburn is fixing something that was torn up by summer heat and should not take long to complete compared to the other projects. Roundabout work is progressing quickly. Hang in there – should be all done soon and make your travel smoother and quicker where that stop sign used to back up. Thanks for your patience.
