Transit Authority Proposes $15,000 Increase for Free Bus Rides
The Cape Girardeau County Transit Authority Executive Director Tom Mogelnicki proposed that the City Council increase the annual contribution to the CGCTA from $110,000 to $125,000. Mogelnicki explained how the CGCTA could then leverage additional federal funding to eliminate the $2 fixed bus route fees. Watch the presentation and Council discussion on YouTube. No commitments were made, and Mayor Rediger requested additional data from CGCTA and research from city staff.
Chamber Requests Early Renewal for Visitor Bureau
Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce Director John Mehner stood by his recent hire, Cape Girardeau Convention & Visitor Bureau Director Brenda Newbern, to ask City Council for an early renewal to their five-year contract. The Chamber/CVB pair proposed no increases, no other changes, asking only to renew their contract to align with their Fall 2016 move to a new facility. The Council voiced support for the Chamber/CVB and no official action was taken.
