Party in the Rose Garden: Official Summer 2016 Season Opening

rose-garden-webWe’re having a Party in the Rose Garden! Join the Council of Garden Clubs at this official season opening of the Rose Garden in Capaha Park on Wednesday, June 8 from 6-7:30 p.m.
In conjunction with the Municipal Band concert, there will be strolling musicians reliving fifties tunes, Garden Club members dressed in their fifties Sunday best, and “Then and Now” picture display of the Garden.
The Rose Garden has been in existence since the City approved its selection on April 25, 1953, at the northwest corner of Capaha Park. At that time, Mrs. Thomas G. Harris and Mrs. Chris El Stiver were co-chairmen of the committee to promote a test garden in Cape Girardeau.
There will be information available at the event on how to become “A Friend of the Rose Garden”. The generosity of garden lovers through 63 years has insured the dream that
Mrs. Harris and Mrs. Stiver  envisioned. The Rose Garden exists on love and donations. It has done this since 1953. If you are interested in volunteering during the growing months, there will be members available to talk with you at the Party in the Rose Garden event.
