Cape Girardeau Summer Sports Camps and Classes for All Ages

Join Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation this summer for various sports, fitness, and conditioning camps! We have several options to choose from. If you have questions about any of the following sports/fitness camps, please contact us at 573-339-6340.
Sports Camps     Ages 6-12
Sports Camp provides children the opportunity to play a different sport each day. Sports include basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, dodgeball, sand volleyball, kickball, and more. Children will learn basic skills and rules of each sport, and end each day with a fun ‘game.’ All activities will be recreational based. All sessions meet from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday through Thursday at Arena Park Shelter 1. Cost is $30 for Cape Girardeau residents and $35 for non-residents.

Sports Conditioning     Ages 13-18
Prepare for your upcoming sports session with aerobic conditioning, plyometric and agility training, and stretching activities. Participants will use all different types of cardiovascular equipment and learn different aerobic training techniques from running to swimming. Participants will also learn the effectiveness of stretching through proper technique. All sessions meet from 9-10 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at the Osage Centre, from June 6 through July 15. Pee Wee Sports     Ages 3-5
Pee Wee Sports.1Get your child off to a sporty start with our Pee-Wee Sports class, offered in two sessions this summer! Children will play a different sport each week including tee ball, soccer, and basketball. We’ll go over the basic skills and rules of each sport, and play a fun game at the end. The class fees are $25 for Cape Girardeau residents and $28 for non-residents. Online registration is available; please register by June 2 for Session 1 and by June 23 for Session 2.

Youth Fitness Camp     Ages 6-15
This camp is designed to educate youth on fitness practices through fun activities. Eat, think, and be active! Fees are $40 for Cape Girardeau residents and $45 for non-residents. The class meets at the Osage Centre from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Monday through Thursday, June 27-30. Please register by June 23. Online registration is available here.
Start Smart Soccer     Ages 3-5
start-smart-soccerDo you have any future soccer stars in your house? Or do you want your children to learn soccer basics? Well, register your child now for Start Smart Soccer, hosted by the City of Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Department! Start Smart Soccer is for children, ages 3-5. Classes are from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays at the Osage Centre, starting on Aug. 10 through Sept. 14. Fees are $30 for Cape Girardeau residents and $35 for non-residents. Every enrolled child receives a Start Smart Soccer t-shirt. Class instruction includes developmentally appropriate training for the three- to five-year-old age group, which prepares children to play sports fear of getting hurt or worrying about competition. Register now online or  call 573-339-6340.
Youth Volleyball Skills Camp     Ages 8-12
fundamentals-volleyballWe’re offering a Youth Volleyball Skills Camp for girls and boys ages 8-12. The camp will be held June 20-22 at the Osage Centre. The morning session for players ages 8-10 will take place from 9 a.m. – noon. The afternoon session for players ages 11-12 will be held from 1-4 p.m. The cost for the camp is $45 for Cape Girardeau residents and $50 for non-residents, and includes a camp t-shirt. This camp is intended for girls and boys of all ages and abilities and is designed to teach and enhance player’s volleyball skills and overall performance on the court. Participants will be taught by quality instructors, including former high school and college players and coaches. Participants will learn basic fundamentals of passing, setting, serving and attacking to develop into an all–around skilled player. Register in person at the A.C.
